First Time at Finger Lakes CannaMarket? What to Expect in Ithaca

Updated: 2 days ago

If you have heard about Finger Lakes CannaMarket but are still not sure what happens there, this guide is for you.

Finger Lakes CannaMarket is a free, 21+ community event at NRE Space in downtown Ithaca. It brings together adults interested in 420 culture, local growers, makers, businesses, and people who want to learn more. The market is built around conversation, community and connection. You can meet people, ask questions, and see what local growers and businesses are working on.

The quick facts

  • Age: 21 and older. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID.

  • Admission: The regular Wednesday and Saturday CannaMarkets are free.

  • Location: NRE Space, 402 W State Street, Ithaca, New York.

  • Saturday market: Saturdays from 12:00 to 5:00 PM.

  • Midweek Session: Wednesdays from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

  • Before you leave home: Check the current event calendar. Dates and special events can change.

What is Finger Lakes CannaMarket?

Finger Lakes CannaMarket is a recurring community market and social event.

The mix of participating growers, makers, and businesses can change from one date to the next. That is part of the point. The market gives small local businesses a place to introduce themselves, talk directly with adults in the community, and build relationships over time.

For visitors, that means the experience is personal. You can ask people about their work, learn who is local, and find out what makes one business different from another.

What happens when you come in?

Expect an informal adult community event, not a trade show and not a nightclub.

People walk through at their own pace. Some stop to talk with every business. Others make a quick visit, see who is there, and come back another week. You can expect opportunities to:

  • Meet local growers, makers, and 420-friendly businesses.

  • Ask questions and learn directly from the people behind the businesses.

  • See what is new from week to week.

  • Talk with other adults who share an interest in cannabis culture.

  • Hear about upcoming CannaMarket events, dinners, comedy, art, and other 21+ experiences.

You do not need to be an expert. Curiosity and respect are enough.

Wednesday or Saturday. Which should you choose?

The regular Saturday CannaMarket runs from noon to 5:00 PM. It is the main daytime market and gives you plenty of time to look around, talk, and make an afternoon of it.

The Midweek Session runs Wednesdays from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. It is a good option if Saturdays do not work for you or if you want to stop by after work.

Both are free, 21+, and held at NRE Space. The participating businesses may change, so check the event calendar before choosing your date.

Can I come alone?

Yes. Many people come because they want to see what the market is about. You do not need to arrive with a group or know one of the businesses.

If you are unsure how to start a conversation, keep it simple. Ask someone what they do, how long they have been part of the local community, or what they want first-time visitors to know. The people behind the tables are there to meet people.

What should I bring?

Bring your valid photo ID and any questions you have.

It also helps to:

  • Confirm the date and hours before you travel.

  • Give yourself enough time to look around without rushing.

  • Check the event listing for special instructions.

  • Bring a friend if you would rather explore together.

If you need parking or accessibility information before you come, contact Finger Lakes CannaMarket before your visit.

Why the local connection matters

The strongest idea behind the CannaMarket has stayed the same since it began. People should be able to meet the people doing the work.

Small businesses do not always have a large storefront, advertising budget, or an easy way to introduce themselves to the public. A recurring local event gives them room to explain who they are and build trust one conversation at a time.

That direct contact also gives visitors something a regular online listing cannot. You can hear the story behind a business, ask better questions, and decide who you want to keep up with.

A few common questions

Is every Finger Lakes CannaMarket event free?

The regular Wednesday and Saturday markets are free. Special events such as dinners, comedy shows, and art experiences may require a paid ticket. Each event page shows its own price and registration details.

Do I need to RSVP?

No. You can just pull up. A free RSVP is optional and helps with event planning. Joining the email list is a separate choice.

Will the same businesses be there every week?

Not always. The lineup can change. Returning on another Wednesday or Saturday may give you a different mix of people and businesses.

Can someone under 21 attend with me?

No. Finger Lakes CannaMarket is a 21+ event.

How can my business take part?
